I’ve decided to trunk VINTAGE.  I just don’t think I’m doing the plot justice.  I’m sad because I love the characters, but I’m just not feeling where it’s headed.

Happy day:

I have three (maybe four) new ideas that are churning and I feel I have a better grasp on the plot with them.  This is happy news!  The first, I already have in my ‘What I’m Writing’ category (DELILAH WAKES).  However, I think I’m going to focus on one that has a paranormal spin before I tackle the other full board (THE DEVIL’S UTOPIA).  This makes me happy!

So, that’s where I am in my journey.  It’s really sad to trunk well over 100 pages of work, but it’s for the best.  Maybe I’ll revisit it one day.  Who knows?  But until then, I have a lot of things to occupy my mind! Woot!

Why the ticker?  Because it’s my goal counter for the first draft of VINTAGE.  Woot-woot!  I’m on the downward slope and there is light at the end of the tunnel finally!  Yay!

3.  My last name is essentially made up, as the spelling was changed when my husband’s relatives came over from Croatia and the pronunciation changed when his grandfather was in the Army.

4.  I’ve lived in Arkansas, Florida, Ohio, Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Germany.

5.  I’ve had a crush on my (now) husband since I was 13 years old and remember seeing him for the first time in the Jr. High cafeteria.  So romantic.

6.  I kick and hallucinate in my sleep.  Seriously.  It’s weird!

7.  I was at seat filler at the CMA awards for three years and the lead singer for Rascal Flatts told me where I was supposed to sit, once.  I was on TV my first year, too (sitting behind Tim McGraw – cool).

This is what I entered:

            I had a hairy upper lip. My freaking lip was a giant fur ball. Well, that’s sexy. I moved in a little closer to the mirror to fully assess the fuzz.

            No wonder I didn’t have a boyfriend. Heat flooded my cheeks as I imagined what guys heard when they met me. “Hi, my name is Molly and my caterpillar lip greets you.” Oh, God.

            Maybe I was exaggerating a little. It was only a couple of hairs and not the hairy pelt I’d originally seen in my reflection. But still! So not attractive.

            Rolling my eyes, I turned away from the mirror and out of the employee bathroom. It looked like today’s tips were going to go towards depilatory cream. That was just awesome.

            It was only fitting that I would have the cruel genetic misfortune of inheriting my dad’s coloring and hair issues. It was such crap! When mom was seventeen, she’d been blonde-haired, blue eyed, with an eyebrow arch that would make Anastasia – esthetician to the stars – weep. But me?  Let’s just say she found the money for my bi-weekly eyebrow appointments. Guess I needed to add the lip to my waxing regime now. Damn.
