I know what you mean, even though I am a school teacher. I think the approach is important when you're a student, really. If the teacher presents the information in a meaningful way, it's not torture to complete the assignment. It kind of goes hand in hand with the whole work environment thing, too. If you enjoy your job, you don't mind sacrificing some extra hours for it. Does that make sense?

Though it would have been SO nice to get paid for all of that school work.

I may have been a weird kid, but all through high school I was obsessed with Stephen King. Not sure exactly when I picked up Skeleton Crew, but I read it (and re-read it) through multiple times, then discovered Shaun Hutson, Clive Barker, Steve Harris, David Britton and the other then-current crop of writers...

All through my teens I absolutely hated being a teenager, and the endless rules, restrictions and impossible demands couldn't end soon enough. It's strange, but there IS a difference between being told to do some assignment or other for school, and being asked (politely) to work two days non-stop (and through the night) on something. I can't put my finger on exactly why the two things are different, but work is much, much less aggravating than some people seem to think of it as being. And there is always payday to look forward to.
